Thundermother bei Iron Road for Children

Wieder spielen Thundermother am IRFC, es war mein erstes Mal, sie dort hören zu dürfen.

Das Wetter war fantastisch, ca 28°, leichter Wind. Das Rahmenprogramm um IRFC war sehr schön, wobei ich ehrlicherweise zugeben muss nicht sehr viel mitbekommen zu haben, war ich doch viel zu aufgeregt, Thundermother endlich wieder live spielen zu hören und zu sehen.
Los gings kurz vor 21 Uhr mit “Can You Feel It”, wenn man Linnéas Stimme hört, und die Musik einsetzt, gibt es kein Halten mehr. Die Lautstärke war einem Rockkonzert entsprechend aber man verstand den Text gut, die Akustik war hervorragend. Es ist einfach eine Freude, ihnen zuzuhören und ihre Bühnenshow mitanzusehen.
Zwischendurch gibt es immerwieder humorvolle Einlagen, z.B. ein Sommersonnenwendetanz um einen Becher Bier, das macht mit den Mädels absoluten Spaß. Meiner Meinung nach war es ein sehr schön ausgewogenes Verhältnis aus alten Songs und Songs vom neuen Album – übrigens echt hörenswert, da ist kein Song drauf, den man nicht mögen kann.
Etwas ruhiger ging es dann kurz mit Sleep weiter.
Aber bei Joans Schlagzeugsolo war wieder volle Action garantiert. Mit “Driving in Style” kam es zum Höhepunkt und glorreichen Abschluss, huch die Zeit ist da echt schnell vergangen und es war keine Sekunde, dass man auf die Uhr geschaut hätte. Wenn es nach mir gegangen wäre, hätten die Vier ruhig noch 2 Stunden länger spielen können.
Leider gab es keinen Thundermother T-Shirt Merch Stand.
Alles in Allem ein wundervolles Konzert finde ich, kann es kaum erwarten, sie wieder live zu sehen!
Hoppla das ist ja schon am Tag drauf, in Wien am Donauinselfest am 21. Juni 2025.
Gibt es etwas Geileres, als Thundermother innerhalb von 2 Tagen 2x zu hören?
Mir würde Nichts einfallen!

Once again, Thundermother played at the IRFC – and it was my first time experiencing them there.

The weather was perfect: around 28°C with a light breeze. The supporting program around the festival was really lovely, although I have to admit I didn’t catch much of it – I was just way too excited to finally hear and see Thundermother live again.
Things kicked off just before 9 p.m. with Can You Feel It – and the moment Linnéa’s voice hit and the band kicked in, there was no holding back. The volume was exactly what you’d expect from a proper rock concert, yet the lyrics came through clearly and the acoustics were excellent.
It’s simply a joy to listen to them and watch their performance on stage.
Between songs, there were always little humorous moments – like a summer solstice dance around a cup of beer – and that kind of thing just makes being with these girls so much fun. In my opinion, the set was a great balance between older songs and tracks from the new album – which, by the way, is absolutely worth listening to. There’s not a single song on it you wouldn’t like.
Things slowed down a bit with Sleep…
…but Joan’s drum solo brought the energy right back. Driving in Style was the peak and a glorious finale. Time flew by – not for a single second did I look at my watch. Honestly, I wouldn’t have minded if the four of them had played another two hours.
All in all, it was a wonderful concert. I can’t wait to see them live again!
Oh wow – that’s already the next day, at the Donauinselfest in Vienna on June 21, 2025.
Is there anything better than hearing Thundermother twice in just two days?
I can’t think of a single thing.

Thundermother beim Donausinselfest

Kaum habe ich mich vom Thundermother @IRFC Auftritt halbwegs erholt, geht es schon wieder los zum Donauinselfest, das größte Open Air Festival in Europa (bei freiem Eintritt). Das glaube ich sofort, denn die Menschenmassen sind … ich sag mal angsteinflößend für jemanden, der keine Menschenmassen mag 😉 Es fühlt sich so an, als wäre halb Europa auf der Donauinsel unterwegs. Aber für Thundermother nehme ich das gerne in Kauf!
Davor war Vulvarine dran, die mag ich auch ganz gerne, Cheri Cheri Lady ist ein echt cooler Song – gespielt von Vulvarine!
Um ehrlich zu sein, ich bin ja nur wegen Thundermother hingefahren, alle anderen Bands erscheinen für mich höchstens im Kleingedruckten unter “Ferner spielten…”. Der Platz um und vor der 88.6 Rock Bühne war gesteckt voll, Platz bekam man nur ganz seitlich oder weit hinten.
Kurz Vor Beginn kam noch die 88.6 T-Shirt Kanone wohlgelenkt vom Timpel (DER 88.6 Moderator) zum Einsatz.
Um dreiviertel Neun eröffneten Thundermother mit “Can You Feel It”- kein Song wäre ein besserer Auftakt für ihr Konzert!
Akustikmässig blieben ebenfalls keine Wünsche offen, die war absolut super.
Die Stimmung war echt gut, mir ist nur Eines negativ aufgefallen, es gab fast niemanden mit einem Thundermother T-Shirt!
Wie auch am IRFC Konzert war die Mischung aus neuen Songs und Klassikern super, ähnlich aber es gab dich eine gewisse Variation.
Und auch hier durfte Sleep – quasi als leichte Abkühlung zur rockigen Eröffnung – nicht fehlen.
Leider gab es zwischendurch nur einige wenige Soli, Joans Schlagzeugsolo habe ich hier schmerzlich vermisst.
“Driving in Style” war auch hier der Höhepunkt und Abschluss, die Menge ging da total ab.
Was mir negativ aufgefallen ist, die Spielzeit mit rund 60 Minuten war definitiv viel zu kurz.
Zusammenfassend war es ein sehr schönes Konzert, ein akustischer Leckerbissen wie immer!

Barely recovered from Thundermother’s performance at IRFC, I found myself heading right back into the action — this time to Donauinselfest, Europe’s largest open-air festival (with free entry!). And I can believe it — the crowds were… well, let’s just say overwhelming, especially for someone who doesn’t love big crowds 😉 It honestly felt like half of Europe had descended onto Donauinsel.
But for Thundermother, I’ll gladly brave it all!
Before them, Vulvarine hit the stage — a band I also like. Their version of Cheri Cheri Lady was such a cool thing.
But truth be told, I was only there for Thundermother. All other bands, for me, could’ve been listed under “Also performed…” in tiny print.
The area around the 88.6 Rock Stage was absolutely packed. The only spots left were way off to the side or far in the back.
Right before the show began, the 88.6 T-shirt cannon made an appearance — wellhandled by Timpel, THE 88.6 radio host.
At 8:45 PM, Thundermother kicked off with Can You Feel It — and honestly, no song could have been a better opener.
The sound? Flawless. Not a single complaint there.
The energy was incredible, but I have to say: I barely saw anyone wearing a Thundermother T-shirt!
Just like at IRFC, the mix of new tracks and beloved classics was spot on. Similar setlist, but with enough variation to keep it exciting.
And yes, Sleep made a return — a softer moment amidst all the rock power, and a breather.
Sadly, there were only a few solos scattered throughout the set. I really missed Joan’s drum solo this time — it felt like something was missing.
As expected, Driving in Style brought the show to its explosive finale. The crowd went absolutely wild!
One real downside? The set was only about 60 minutes long — way too short for a band like Thundermother.
And again, I couldn’t find a merch stand selling Thundermother shirts. A real missed opportunity.
All in all, it was a fantastic concert — an absolute treat for the ears, as always!
